Literature Text

There is a war inside me
Inside my head constantly raging
The clash of cymbals together
Of shields thrusting against each other
Split over the twin halves of my skull
Peace will come, peace will come

Though the roads before me
Twist and intermingle
A clash of cymbals together
Of buildings grating against each other
And over the voices around me
Peace will come, peace will come

Will my sternum threaten to collapse into me
Like an island sinking into the sea
As the world around me shouts and screams?
Peace will come, peace will come

While the world lies bleeding
Like the sunset bleeds into the water
Over the lakes
And over the twin halves of the world
Peace will come, peace will come
Peace will rise again
I find myself overwhelmed by conflict- both the unrest in the world and the daily conflicts and challenges everyone faces in their day to day life. It's hard to hold onto hope, but I think that it's essential. This really isn't a strictly religious poem, but since I'm on the subject of hope I'll say that the reason I believe what I believe is because of the hope it provides.
So yeah. Enjoy.
